Words matter. The smallest of phrases can have some of the biggest meanings. That is where the power of yet comes into play. This is a small but mighty word. Let’s dig into why it matters and how you can use it to your advantage.
What does the “Power of YET” mean?
I’ve heard this catchphrase “The Power of YET” a bunch of times. But I never really dug into what exactly it meant to my overall mindset. I mean, I’m a pretty positive person, to begin with.
Overall, I find the good in almost every situation. Almost always see the bright side even if there doesn’t appear to be one, and remind people constantly to stop worrying about things they don’t control. So I didn’t really think I needed to look into it.
That changed for me when I started to see mindset books pop up talking about this phrase. So I decided to dig in a little and see what I could learn. I mean could this little word really make a difference?
YES! It really can. Nowadays, even I find the power behind that tiny little word to be very exhilarating. YET. Meaning I can’t do something, but eventually, I will be able to do it. That may mean learning a new skill, doing something a different way, or knowing when to ask for help.
- YET…. allows us to be ok with “I can’t.”
- YET… allows us to be OK with “I’m not good at this.”
- YET… allows us to embrace “It doesn’t work.”
Because everything changes when you add YET onto the end of those statements.
Who Should Use YET?
Every single person should start to add that little but powerful word to their sentences. The power of yet changes your mindset and sets you up for motivation. This simple mindset change can be very impactful on your life.
I have seen this simple yet very effective tool used in many different ways. No one is immune to this powerful mindset shift. I have seen this successfully implemented in elementary school classes, large corporations, and there are many books written on the topic.
Influence of Mindset and Motivation
Mindset is how you perceive the world. We are trained our entire lives to be negative. It’s how our brains work. Humans needed the ability to survive from predators and so we are hardwired to look for the negative. Back when we lived in caves this became mechanism to avoid unhealthy risks.
Fast forward to the modern world and we haven’t stopped finding the negative in life. We just now apply it to everything and not just the situations that would be life or death. Unfortunately, this does not lend itself well to abundance.
This is where we can start to train our brains to fight off the flight or fight responses we have built in. It’s time to start using the power of yet to your advantage. Finding ways to turn your thoughts around impacts both your motivation and mindset.
If you have a positive mindset you will find a greater sense of motivation to get things done. It’s really hard to want to do things when you are ho humming through life. Motivation is a contributor of your success and can help you reach your goals.
