In this blog post, I’ll go over some of the most common ways people motivate themselves when feeling frustrated or exhausted with life.

Think About What You Want to Achieve and Why You Want It.
Why is it that you want to be more motivated and a better upbeat version of yourself? Your self-motivation has to come from within, but what often helps is thinking about why we want something so bad. Are you trying to be more motivated at home or work?
Putting together a road map of what you want to achieve and WHY it’s important to do each step will help you keep yourself accountable. Think about all the steps along the way and how they will help us achieve our ultimate goal. For example, if your goal is weight loss, think of smaller milestones like losing 20 lbs or fitting into a size 16 instead of focusing on getting down to a 0X/XXS dress size because that can seem impossible, especially when trying to motivate ourselves.
Find a Partner to Help You Stay Accountable
Accountability is a huge thing when it comes to motivating yourself. We often fail at something we set out to do because we didn’t motivate ourselves enough or have an accountability partner.
So finding someone who will help motivate you and hold you accountable can be super helpful! Try joining a group on Facebook, asking a friend to help you. Whatever works best for you as long as it’s something that holds you accountable and bonus you get to hold your partners to their tasks too.
Writing down our goal is all about holding us accountable. Plus, then you can’t say you forgot or weren’t sure what you agreed to. Keep your goals somewhere you can look at them every day and cross them off as you get them done.
Get Up and Move
I’m not talking about suddenly jumping into a 5 hours per day exercise routine. We might not all be able to get up and move or exercise at the drop of a hat. But there are times that you can fit a little movement into your day, and you may be surprised how much it helps you.
Getting physical activity can help keep your mindset positive therefore motivating you! If you keep telling yourself that “you don’t have time,” find any way possible to fit some sort of movement into your day. Stand up and stretch, park further from the store door and walk in, taking stairs whenever possible. It doesn’t matter how small as long as we’re doing something.
Celebrate Every Single Success
We all have successes, even if it’s just a minor thing. We need to celebrate them! It will motivate us to do more things and feel good about what we’ve already done.
Losing 50 lbs is a huge success, but so are smaller milestones like being able to fit into your favorite pair of jeans again or spending an extra hour outside with your family because you’re not exhausted from exercising for hours on end every day. Celebrate every single success, no matter how small they may seem. Those successes represent moving forward in our journey toward becoming someone who stays positive when things get tough.
Remove the Self-Doubt
Self-doubt can be a massive obstacle to motivating ourselves. It’s hard to motivate yourself when we doubt our abilities or think that what we’re doing isn’t enough. Removing self-doubt is important for leading a more positive life.
We need to recognize when those moments of self-doubt are happening so that they stop holding us back from motivating ourselves. You might have little voices inside your head telling you how stupid it was to get up early this morning, but if you notice them, then acknowledge them as thoughts, not fact. Find ways around these moments and thoughts by reminding yourself of your goals and the good things you have done.
Rest assured you are not alone if you have experienced self-doubt. Doubt is a sign of growth, but it can also be crippling at times. There are many reasons people might want to give up on themselves or their goals, and sometimes the best way to motivate yourself is with some tough love. You may need to ask for someone else’s perspective to encourage you when you feel like giving up on your dreams.
Motivate Yourself Conclusion
The most important thing you can do when you want to give up is to stay positive. You might need a mental break or someone/something in your life that inspires you and helps keep things in perspective. If this sounds like something you’re struggling with, you may need to take some time for yourself!
