Mindset is a funny thing. You can be having the best day, see someone post something you wish you had and suddenly convince yourself you are doomed to failure. If you are like me, when this happens you need to get out of your own way, which will lead to success.

7 Effective Ways to Get out of Your Own Way to Follow Your Dreams 2

Staying positive all the time is impossible, but you can change your mindset to be more positive in your everyday interactions. Join our challenge to create a more positive YOU!

Define What Success Looks Like

Success means different things to each of us, but it’s not less important for any one of us. Figure out what success means to you so you can get out of your own way and accomplish it. I work full time, so my progress in blogging probably won’t be the same as someone who is a stay at home mom with small children or a baby.

There is nothing wrong with different definitions of success. Embrace them and stick to your own definition. Measure yourself only to that definition!

Vision Boards

Vision boards are excellent reminders of what we want and why we are working so hard. These little gems can be digital, scrapbook pages, or only words on a piece of paper! Now if you are saying, but seriously no, I’m not all into voodoo and visions and weirdness.

I challenge you to try it. I mean, what does it hurt to throw your big scary dreams out into the world and see if they can manifest? Need help creating a vision board? Ready to Manifest your dreams? Click here to get our FREE download!

Get out of your own way and try it. Nothing bad can happen, but if you take my challenge then you need to promise me you will look at and think about your life every single day for at least a year as if everything on your vision board was already your reality. Every quarter review your vision board and update your dreams. You never know where they may take you.

Create a Task List

Start with big goals. Such as I want to buy a new car. Then break it down into every step you can think of that you can measure, that will lead to that goal. Next, Yep, you guessed it. Start working on the task list.

Celebrate every single item you check off the list. And repeat this process for every goal you have. Break your goals down, and celebrate every single task you complete.

Accountability Partners

There is nothing like an amazing group of people to surround you and embrace your dreams. I had the fantastic opportunity to attend a bloggers retreat, where I met people from all over. The one thing that continues to bond us all together is that we all want a support system. These people help me celebrate my highs and learn from my lows.

Writing down your task list, setting goals, and putting time limits on them is all very important. Having someone to check-in and hold you accountable for getting them done is priceless. The thought that I will have to tell someone I didn’t accomplish what I wanted to makes me work extra hard to ensure I complete my monthly task list.

Do NOT be Afraid to Fail

The honest truth is that you can not be successful if you have not failed. If you give up, then you probably won’t ever reach your dream. There are many lessons to be learned within every failure. Learn from them, embrace them, and try again!

Understand Consistency Is King

Consistency is scary. Having goals and sticking to them is hard. Making it a habit is almost ridiculous to some of us. Practice makes perfect, so understand that consistency is probably one of the many keys you need to success.

Set your goals, check in on them, reflect and decide what is working and what isn’t. Do more of what is working, less of what isn’t and move forward. Keep moving forward and consistently check in on yourself.

Recognize Negativity

Not only that inner voice that talks to you into a bad mood or tells you that you aren’t good enough, but recognize it in others. Life is too short to be surrounded by people or thoughts that aren’t going to positively influence your life. Cutting those negative influences out is hard, and when you think you’ve conquered it, something will make you question it.

Recognize the negative thoughts, and find ways to replace them with positive ones. Celebrate successes of those around you, and if you want those same successes, ask them how they did it. Most people will share what they did to achieve their dreams.

Get Out of Your Own Way

Dream the big dream, fight the good fight, and embrace the challenges along the way. Every single person deserves to be successful. Focus on what that means to you, and find people to share the journey with you.
